In Week 1 the Albion were due to play the Buck but they never turned up.  They resigned from the league after two weeks and because they had never played a game they were deemed never to have taken part in the league.  This meant that there would be an odd number of teams in the group forcing one team to stand down each week
After Week 5 The Llay Welfare resigned from the league.  Their place, and their results so far, were taken over by Lex on the understanding that they would not qualify for the knockout stage at the end of the season no matter what position they finished in.  Matches played by Llay Welfare show their scores in blue and those played by Lex show their scores in black.
The Gredington failed to turn up for their matches in Week 1 and Week 4.  Their opponents were  awarded the points for the the win and given the average winning score for that group in that week.
In Week 1 The Rotary Club were due to play the Yew Tree but didn't turn up.  The following week they resigned from the league and were replaced by The Oak Tree.  In that missed Week 1 game the Yew Tree were awarded the win and the average winning score that week for that group.
Also in week 1 Bersham British Legion resigned from the league having never played a match.  They should have been playing The Tax Office in Week 1 but all of their scheduled fixtures became free weeks for the teams involved.
Barclays Bank resigned after Week 10 having played in six matches.  As they had never won a game that they turned up for they are regarded as being in the league throughout with their theoretical opponents in missed games being awarded the win with the acerage winning score for that week in that group.
In Week 1 The  Turf and The Wynnstay were unable to raise a team due to the FA Cup match involving Wrexham and West Ham at the Racecourse.  Their opponents were awarded the win and the average winning score for that week for that group.
In Week 4 Churchills, Rhos change their name to The Sun Inn to avoid confusion with Churchills, Wrexham.  In the table to the left they are referred to as Sun Inn throughout.
After Week 11 The Mount B resigned from the league having played 10 matches and having won one of them due to their opponents not turning up.  Their opponents in their missed games were awarded points as described above.

The final combined table (shown on the left) determined who qualified for the knockout competition todecide the overall champions and also decided the division that teams would be placed in next season.
The top two from each group and the next two highest average scores qualified for the knockout stage and the quarter final games were played on 12th May 1981.

The Yew Tree, as champions of the Wrexham Quiz League went on to compete in the Clwyd Cup against the champions of three other local leagues, Mold, Flint & Holywell and Rhyl.
The Yew Tree won the competition beating The Victory Club, Rhyl in the final 29-27; a battle which went down to the very last question.  In the Semi-final the Yew Tree had beaten The Crown, Mold 37-18.
The Yew Tree team for the semi-final was Dave Massey (capt), Mike Dixon, Bert Jones and Frank McAleary and for the final Les Lever stepped in for Bert Jones.
